In august we were in Holland to witness the wedding of our son Marius. The official part of this festive happening took place in their residence , the city of Leiden.
Meanwhile our Kabaal was being pampered in Riposto where the hull was repaired and polished and the underwater part was painted. In italy we could not find a place where it is allowed to work on your yacht by yourself so we took the opportunity of the wedding to have it done in Riposto and Renato and his team did a very good job.
Then back to Sicily for the festive occasion of Marius and Sabinas wedding party. A wonderful occasion on Sabinas home Island with lots of guests from all over the world. The sun was shining, flowers blooming, tears of happiness being shed and everybody danced until early morning.
The other children spend some time at sea on Kabaal to swim and sunbathe and recover somewhat from the festivities.
Then we visited some of the splendid baroque cities of Sicily with opa and oma who had come over for the wedding and wanted to discover more of the Island. Siracusa and Marzamemi where highly appreciated.
Sabinas father in the mean time had invited us to sail along in the Etna sea race. So back to Riposto to change ship and embark on the Pop, his sailing yacht. We had a challenging race to Taormina and back. All sorts of windspeed passed by and we really had to be alert to ajust the sails continuously.
It was very nice have a visit again of our sailing friends Karen and Hans. They embarked in Catania and sailed with us to siracusa and to Marzamemi.
Then it was time to move on to Marina di Ragusa for a meeting with other sailing friends, Corine and Peter. In our next episode you will see how we sail to Malta with them and encounter a lot of wildlife during our trip.
